- Heavy repair/ overhauls of coaches & wagons are time based, since no data about mileage are available.
- In general, there is no preventive maintenance of coaches & wagons.
- In Myitnge workshop a belt system for coach & wagon repair was only recently and partly introduced.
- Infrastructure. equipment, tools and workstations in Myitnge workshop are unadapted and insufficient.
- There is no bogie shop in the wagon section of Myitnge workshop.
- The unit exchange system is not fully applied.

Existing Situation of Train Operation, Signaling & Telecommunication
Myanmar Railways can use the automatic electric signaling between Yangon - Insein and Yangon - Payawseikon in Yangon circular line only. The single line Block Instruments are used in Yangon Pyay line and Bago Motetama line. These instruments are safe for train operating, but there are frequent failures. The rest are as both on double and single lines, trains are operated by Paper Line Clear Ticket system which is the unsafe method. As signaling and telecommunications are not reliable enough there are difficulties for efficient train operating. Different signaling system and different operating speed in the same section are also difficulties for train operation.
Mores telegraphs and magneto telephones are major means for communications for railway operation and administration, and also instead of block signaling.
